After doctors told him he had 2-3 years to live, Kerry Leong decided to visit Stem Cell Institute to treat his idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis with Golden Cells™ mesenchymal stem cell treatment. That was 6 years ago. This is his story.
Video Transcript:
Hi. My name is Kerry Leong. I’m from Canada, west, western Canada and I guess seven years ago I was diagnosed with IPF, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. At the time, respirologists said, “You’re probably looking at two to three years before you’ll be in a pine box.” i.e. Mortality.
And this is my sixth visit to Stem Cell Institute. I’ve been doing this in combination with TCM and I’m still walking around. I don’t drag an oxygen bottle. I feel great. And, one day at a time. We just keep kicking the transplant down the road.
Thank you very much Stem Cell Institute. See you in 6 months.

Hi. My name is Simone de Mari. I’m from Italy but living in New Zealand.
I’m a C-5 spinal cord injury incomplete. I had my accident surfing and I just hit my head in the sand. After 9 months of my accident, I decided to come over here and to give it a go, this treatment. And it was actually quite beneficial. I regained a lot of trunk movement.
Before, I was pretty much strapped in a chair. I regained full bladder sensitivity. I gained a lot of strength in this arm, which was really, really weak. So far, it’s been really worth doing it.
I was supposed to go back 6 months after that but unfortunately COVID hit so I had to wait two years to come back and I just finished my second treatment. I’m already looking forward to see what’s going to happen next.

Hi, my name’s Jamie Tower and I was diagnosed in 2009 with something called mixed connective tissue disease. Basically, that’s five or six different autoimmune diseases.
Mine happen to be lupus, scleroderma, Raynaud’s, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s, polymyositis, and all the inflammation that’s been happening in my body has created lung issues and pericarditis and some things.
And I try to do everything I can for myself with adequate rest, getting rid of toxic people, and eating a plant-based diet for the most part. But when I started reading about the stem cells, I got very excited about what they might be able to do for me, and I was almost at the point of being scared to hope that it could actually help.
Before I came to the stem cell clinic, I was having trouble taking care of myself. I was unable to drive my own car. I was unable to prepare my own food. If I went to the grocery store, I was too tired to put my groceries away and my parents were having to take care of me.
Now I go to the store. I prepare my own food and I can do so many things I wasn’t able to do before the stem cells. I have about 60% of my life back and I am very thrilled that they offer this service.

Video Transcript:
Mrs. Foster – This is Mason Foster. He is eleven years old, diagnosed with autism at the age of five. But we know he’s had it his whole life. Our first time here was last April 2021 and the benefits that we got from stem cells has been amazing. He was also diagnosed with epilepsy. He no longer has any signs of seizure activity. We just had an EEG done and we have taken him off his medications.
Mr. Foster – He was not toilet trained.
Mrs. Foster – He’s now potty trained. No [unintelligible] at night.
Mr. Foster – He can sit through baseball games. He can sit through plays, movies, which he could not do before stem cells.
Mrs. Foster – Definitely could not do before stem cells.
Mr. Foster – He’s more aware. His speech is improving.
Mrs. Foster – Asking questions about movies that he’s watching, which we are totally impressed with.
Mr. Foster – He never did that before.
Mrs. Foster – He never noticed things that were going on in the actual shows that he was watching. Now he’s asking questions, “I he ok?”
Mr. Foster – He’s more empathetic and caring. He’s…
Mrs. Foster – His reading at school has gone through the roof. He’s gone from kindergarten level reading up to third grade level reading
Mr. Foster – In a year.
Mrs. Foster – Less than a year.
Mason – What’s that other girl’s name at the desk?
Mr. and Mrs. Foster – Melissa
Mason – And the other girl? And the other stem cells at the desk?
Mrs. Foster – Okay.
Frankly, I was in pretty bad shape at that point. It was back in 2015 and they thought I was really on the edge of what they could help at that point. Dr. Hernandez agreed to bring me in. I must say that I really think he saved my life in many ways.
I’ve come a long way since then – had eleven visits to the Institute. Nine have been intrathecal [meant to say “intravenous”] and two have been, once we kind of figured out the compression, two have been intrathecal and have really been game changers for me.
Dr. Hernandez, you know, equally important gave me a list of supplements that have really done wonders for me. I’m in my fifties and I feel like I’m in my thirties. It’s quite remarkable in that regard. I think it’s equally important to do all the things from the rehab, to the stem cells, to the supplements. You know, try to do all you can to get there.
I really was relegated to a can and a wheelchair for most of the time. I’ll show you in a minute where I’m at with it. My journey is not over but I can certainly see the end of the tunnel here, not too far away. So, I tell you it’s no easy. You got to do all those things you go to do but these guys are first class – very professional and really gave me a second chance at a normal life. So best of luck to you on your journey.
As I told you, I am not quite there yet. You remember I was pretty much on a cane exclusively, and in a wheelchair for much of the time. I’ve got a simple brace at this point. As I said, I’m not quite there yet but another treatment or two, I think I’ll be where I need to be. So good luck everyone.

“Hi, my name is Mary, and this is Ava. Ava is 5 years old and she has cerebral palsy. We have been coming to the Stem Cell Institute since she was about 1 year old. We keep coming back because… there’s just not a part of her life that it hasn’t affected in a tremendous way.
When we think about one of the most important things it’s treated is her cognitive, and her ability to learn quickly. By the first time that we did it, we were told that she would never sit, and about six months afterwards she was sitting on her knees, crawling – and we just see tremendous benefits every time we come here.”

GLENBURN, Maine (WABI) – This Sunday, Bangor High School will hold its graduation ceremony.
Among those receiving a diploma: Kenneth Kelley.
TV 5 has been following the Glenburn young man for about 12 years now, as Kenneth receives stem cell therapy to treat autism.
Joy Hollowell brings us an update on the now 19-year-old.
We first met Kenneth Kelley back in 2009. The then 8-year-old had already started stem cell therapy. He was diagnosed with autism when he was 2.
“We saw changes within days from the first treatment,” says Kenneth’s mom, Marty Kelley. “And then the first year was amazing. The second year. And things really didn’t stop happening.”
Kenneth was the first child in Maine to receive umbilical cord blood to treat autism. He and his family traveled to Panama for the IVs.
We caught up again with then 14-year-old Kenneth after four stem cell infusions.
“He was struggling to communicate with us even at 8 years old. He was still in diapers,” says Marty. “So I never thought he’d go to high school.”
Not only did Kenneth attend high school, this Sunday he will walk across the stage to receive his diploma from Bangor High School.
The now 19-year-old hopes to one day open a food truck or coffee shop.
“In the moment is how parents think,” says Kenneth’s father, Donald Kelley. “And they just hope for the best for that moment. Especially with an autistic child. And then when you see that your child has been blessed with stem cell treatments and the improvement, it’s just a dream come true.”
To date, Kenneth underwent eight stem cell treatments.
“They put a little needle in, it’s not too bad,” says Kenneth.
“My friend and I started a Facebook group and there’s 12,000 families in there that are actively going for stem cells,” says Marty. “Here in Maine, I know of at least a dozen families.”
Marty says Kenneth’s overall IQ scores jumped nearly 20 points since he started stem cell therapy.
“It’s a milestone, it’s been a hard journey,” she says emotionally.
The Kelleys acknowledge other intervention methods also contributed to Kenneth’s progress and stem cell treatments don’t work for every autistic child. They’re just grateful for the opportunity to watch their son graduate high school.
“Oh, I’m just going to be filled with tears of joys,” says Donald. “I think we’re both going to be overwhelmingly happy for him, to be in a place where he can finally look back and say- wow, I did it.”
Hi, I’m Jennifer M. This is my daughter Jolie. She was diagnosed with autism. We had our first round of stem cell treatment in December 2018. Since then, we’ve seen great gains. My favorite is [that] she has not been sick once. Before, we were constantly at the doctor’s office with UTIs, ear infections – and she’s been healthy – and the other gains that we’ve seen are increase in receptive language. I can tell her, “Go get mommy a towel off the couch.” She will go get the towel and bring it back to me. She can answer questions. “Jolie, what are you doing?” “Sitting,” said Jolie. “You’re sitting in the chair. Good,” replies Jennifer. …as well as her expressive language. Before, she would just say, “iPad”. Now, she will say, “I want the iPad and headphones. Her ability to wait has increased. Her patience increased. Her surroundings – she is more aware of her surroundings and understands the world, like she understands that her iPad has to be charged. She understands that food has to be cooked. [unintelligible] She’s overall a happier kid. Lots of things.
